All Fall Down
“All Fall Down”
Step out the door and it feels like rain
That’s the sound (that’s the sound) on your window pane
Take to the streets but you can’t ignore
That’s the sound (that’s the sound) you’re waiting forIf ever your world starts crashing down
Whenever your world starts crashing down
Whenever your world starts crashing down
That’s where you’ll find meYeah God love your soul and your aching bones
Take a breath, take a step, meet me down below
Everyone’s the same
our fingers to our toes
We just can’t get it right
But we’re on the roadIf ever your will starts crashing down
Whenever your will starts crashing down
Whenever your will starts crashing down
That’s when you find me.(Yeah) Lost till you’re found
Swim till you drownKnow that we all fall down
Love till you hate
Strong till you break
Know that we all fall downIf ever your will starts crashing down
Whenever your will starts crashing down
If ever your will starts crashing down
That’s when you’ll find (find) meLost till you’re found
Swim till you drown
Know that we all fall down
Love till you hate
Strong till you break
Know that we all fall downAll fall down, we all fall down, all fall down
We all fall down, all fall down, all fall downLost till you’re found
Swim till you drown
Know that we all fall down
Love till you hate
Strong till you break
Know that we all fall downThis song can be compared to the Christian walk.
“If ever your world starts crashing down
Whenever your world starts crashing down
Whenever your world starts crashing down
That’s where you’ll find me”As Christians we seem to always find God when we are at a low. When things seem to be “crashing down” is when we remember that God is there. Sometimes that is what it takes for someone to see Him. God will allow us to go through tough situations so we find Him.
“Everyone’s the same
our fingers to our toes
We just can’t get it right
But we’re on the road”All Christians, in a way, are all the same. We all struggle with temptations and sins every day, though they may not be the same temptations. Even though we have these struggles we still continue on our path knowing that God will be there to help us.
“Lost till you’re found
Swim till you drown
Know that we all fall down
Love till you hate
Strong till you break
Know that we all fall down”We all fall into sin’s trap at one point or another. But God shows us the path that leads away from it so we shouldn’t give up. We need to “know that we all fall down.” And if we fall once we shouldn’t feel worthless because of it.

All The Right Moves
“All The Right Moves”
All the right friends in all the right places
So yeah, we’re going down
They’ve got
All the right moves in all the right faces
So yeah, we’re going downLet’s paint the picture
Of the perfect place
They’ve got it better then when anyone’s told ya
They’ll be the King of Hearts, and you’re the Queen of Spades
Then we’ll fight for you like we were your soldiersI know we got it good, but they got it made,
And their grass is getting greener each day,
I know things are looking up, but soon they’ll take us down,
Before anybody’s knowing our nameThey’ve got…
All the right friends in all the right places
So yeah, we’re going down
They’ve got
All the right moves in all the right faces
So yeah, we’re going downThey say
Everybody knows, everybody knows where we’re going
Yeah, we’re going down
They say
Everybody knows, everybody knows where we’re going
Yeah, we’re going downDo you think I’m special?
Do you think I’m nice?
Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces?
Between the noise you hear, and the sounds you like
Are we just sinking the ocean of faces?
It can’t be possible… the rain can fall
Only when it’s over our heads.
The sun is shining everyday, but it’s far away.
Over the world that’s dead.They’ve got, they’ve got…
All the right friends in all the right places
So yeah, we’re going down
They’ve got
All the right moves in all the right faces
So yeah, we’re going down
[Repeat]They say
Everybody knows, everybody knows where we’re going
Yeah, we’re going down
They say
Everybody knows, everybody knows where we’re going
Yeah, we’re going downIt don’t matter what you see
I know I could never be
Someone that’ll look like you.
It don’t matter what you say
I know I could never fake
Someone that could sound like you.All the right friends in all the right places
So yeah, we’re going down
They’ve got
All the right moves in all the right faces
So yeah, we’re going down
[Repeat]They say
Everybody knows, everybody knows where we’re going
Yeah, we’re going down
They say
Everybody knows, everybody knows where we’re going
Yeah, we’re going downYeah, we’re going down [repeat x2]
All the right moves… heeey
Yeah we’re going down
They say
All the right moves… heeey
Yeah we’re going downOneRepublic has recently released a new album. And its big single is “All The Right Moves.”
“All the right friends in all the right places
So yeah, we’re going down
They’ve got
All the right moves in all the right faces
So yeah, we’re going down”To me these lyrics seem to be talking about a guy who knows about someone who has jumped to the top, he didn’t work his way there because he had “all the right friends in all the right places.” But the line “all the right moves in all the right faces” seems to me like this person just acted the part to get ahead. That the person was a fake, but did what he needed to do in order to get on top. As Christians some of us do that all the time. We will act a certain way in front of some people because they are important and we think that is how we are to act around those particular people. The point is that we should act like Christian all the time no matter who we are in front of.
“Between the noise you hear, and the sounds you like” to me means that you hear what you want to hear. As Christians we only want to hear the good things, the rewards that we will one day get, or the things we are doing right. We never want to hear of what we are doing wrong or how we could improve our walks with Christ. We just want to hear the stuff that requires little to no work out of us.
“It don’t matter what you see
I know I could never be
Someone that’ll look like you.
It don’t matter what you say
I know I could never fake
Someone that could sound like you.”These lines could be compared to a Christian who is saying “Hey I don’t want to be like everyone else, I want to stand out.” It could mean that this person doesn’t want to be like everyone else. That this person doesn’t want to just go through the “right moves” but mean what he does.

Anthem

So I recently finished reading “Anthem” by Ayn Rand. This book is about a futuristic society where every single person is equal. And I don’t mean equal as the Constitution says we are equal. People are given odd names like Union 5-3992 and International 4-8818. You are not allowed to have a “normal name”. You are not allowed to have a best friend because that is showing favoritism to one person over another. You are not to get married because, again, that is showing favoritism to one person over another. In this society you are not to refer to yourself as “I” you must say “we.”
This society does not use electricity. The times from the history are referred to as The Unmentionable Times, which would be like our present time. No one is to speak of these times or they will be put to death. The Council does not want people finding out about those times.
The people live in The City and go to school until they are 15. Then they go before a Council and get assigned to a job. When they are assigned a job they live in (for example) The Street Sweepers House. They sleep in rooms with bunk beds. They are not allowed to sing at all. They are on a very strict schedule of when they can eat, work, have free time and sleep.
One day the main character Equality 7-2521, who is a street sweeper, was out working and he came across this whole in the ground so he went down into it and explored it. He would sneak out and do some experiments. He eventually figures out about electricity and made his version of a light bulb. He did this everyday for about two years.
The Council of Scholars was coming and he was going to show them his discovery. He told them the whole story and how he broke all of these laws. They Council said that he should be put to death. So he ran away into the Unchartered Forest. He was followed by Liberty 5-3000, the girl that he liked. They were now free from the laws of The City. So they made names for themselves. They were in the Unchartered Forest and found a house from the Unmentionable Times. They lived there and he discovered a room full of manuscripts talking about the Unmentionable Times. Equality read them. He then came to the realization that he was not a “we” but an “I’. He called himself a god. He said that he was now the god over his life.
The book was really good. But my critique would be that Equality said he was his own god. Only God, with a big “G” should be your God.

Never Say Never
“Never Say Never”
Some things we don’t talk about
Rather do without
And just hold the smile
Falling in and out of love
Ashamed and proud of
Together all the whileYou can never say never
While we don’t know when
Time, time, time again
Younger now than we were beforePicture, you’re the queen of everything
As far as the eye can see
Under your command
I will be your guardian
When all is crumbling
To steady your handYou can never say never
While we don’t know when
But time and time again
Younger now than we were beforeDon’t let me go
Don’t let me go
Don’t let me go
[x2]We’re pulling apart and coming together again and again
We’re growing apart but we pull it together, pull it together, together againDon’t let me go
Don’t let me go
Don’t let me go
[x4]This song is talking about not letting go. That you can “never say never.” According to the video the guy is looking for his girlfriend or wife during a time of crisis and he is telling her not to let go of him because he is still here.
He says “I will be your guardian, When all is crumbling, To steady your hand.” He said that he would protect her and calm her when she was afraid.
Overall the song is not bad. It doesn’t talk about anything bad and it doesn’t use any curse words. -
Apologize.
Grey’s anatomy is a show about a hospital called Seattle Grace, in Washington. It shows the ER of the hospital. It goes through the doctor’s lives both in and outside of the hospital. You learn all about the doctors and their personal lives. It also shows what ER doctors have to face. What kinds of decisions they must face. So you could call it a hospital drama.
Dr. Shepherd is the new chief of surgery because the old one had to quit because he was an alcoholic. While in surgery the lady who was having surgery done did not have enough anesthesia so she woke up during her surgery and started freaking out. She felt no pain and because of the tubes down her throat she was unable to talk. Her surgeon Dr. Bailey started to freak out because something like that had never happened to her before. The lady refused to let Dr. Bailey tough her again. She was threatening to sue so Dr. Bailey was talking to Dr. Shepherd and told him to apologize because that would get rid of a law suit and it should make things all better. Dr. Shepherd apologized to the lady and she forgave him and dropped the law suit. At the end of the show Dr. Shepherd had a meeting with all the doctors and told them to apologize and that will fix any problem.
The things of this episode that were not so good are the doctors who were sleeping around with other doctors. There was also some cursing, in some intense surgical scenes. A good thing from this episode was the message to apologize. If you do something wrong then you should swallow your pride and apologize. Things will probably go over better if you do just apologize.

Is ignorance bliss?
I was kind of unsure of what this song meant, so I looked it up. The singer Hayley Williams says that she is tired of being the only one in the band who gets all the recognition. She gets tired of being the only one in the spotlight and the band feels left out. She said that she felt like she was losing her friends, the band.
When the video starts the band is playing in a small room with a single light in the center of the room. Haley begins pulling on the light cord trying to shine it on other members of the band but the cord isn’t long enough to shine it on anyone else but her. She struggles with that. At the end of the video the other members of the band wrapping Hayley up in the cord with the light shining on her. It shows that the spotlight will always be on her whether she likes it or not.
There is a part of the song that says “Ignorance is your new best friend.” Hayley says that line describes how she felt. She felt like she was losing people. I think what she meant by that was that she wanted to be ignorant of the fact that she was losing her friends to ease the pain of reality.
“Ignorance”
If I’m a bad person, you don’t like me
Well I guess I’ll make my own way
It’s a circle
A mean cycle
I can’t excite you anymore
Where’s your gavel? Your jury?
What’s my offense this time?
You’re not a judge but if you’re gonna judge me
Well sentence me to another lifeDon’t wanna hear your sad songs
I don’t wanna feel your pain
When you swear it’s all my fault
Cause you know we’re not the same (no)
We’re not the same (no)
Oh we’re not the same
Yeah the friends who stuck together
We wrote our names in blood
But I guess you can’t accept that the change is good (hey)
It’s good (hey)
It’s goodWell you treat me just like another stranger
Well it’s nice to meet you sir
I guess I’ll go
I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well it’s nice to meet you sir
I guess I’ll go
I best be on my way outIgnorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friendThis is the best thing that could’ve happened
Any longer and I wouldn’t have made it
It’s not a war no, it’s not a rapture
I’m just a person but you can’t take it
The same tricks that, that once fooled me
They won’t get you anywhere
I’m not the same kid from your memory
Well now I can fend for myselfDon’t wanna hear your sad songs
I don’t wanna feel your pain
When you swear it’s all my fault
Cause you know we’re not the same (no)
We’re not the same (no)
Oh we’re not the same
Yeah we used to stick together
We wrote our names in blood
But I guess you can’t accept that the change is good (hey)
It’s good (hey)
It’s goodWell you treat me just like another stranger
Well it’s nice to meet you sir
I guess I’ll go
I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well it’s nice to meet you sir
I guess I’ll go
I best be on my way outIgnorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friendWell you treat me just like another stranger
Well it’s nice to meet you sir
I guess I’ll go
I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well it’s nice to meet you sir
I guess I’ll go
I best be on my way out -
Evolution in the Medical Field
Future physicians may be tested on evolution in the medical entrance and license exams. They think that by applying the idea of evolution they will be able to answer questions like “Why do humans suffer from mental illnesses such as autism and schizophrenia?” and “Why do humans have higher rates of cancer than other species?”
They say that the reason some bacteria resist antibiotics and chemotherapy is because they evolve so quickly, that they resist the drug. Doesn’t evolution take “millions” of years?? So why can the bacteria evolve to resist the drug? Couldn’t it be that the bacteria are just getting stronger?
Some people think that the reason we get sick to bugs and parasites is because our hygiene has improved. Some researchers think that if we were to give patients “cocktails” of parasite eggs, then the parasites would no longer get us sick. There are currently 4000 people getting tested to see if this works. First of all that is really gross!! I would not want to purposely put parasite eggs inside my body. Secondly, how do we know that people back then didn’t get sick from parasites, what does our improved hygiene have to do with parasites bothering us?
Psychiatrist Randolph Nesse is concerned because in medical school evolutionary biology is not in the curriculum. He thinks it should be. They want evolutionary biology to be firmly grasped by all medical students.
If these recommendations go through then the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) will soon contain evolution. The change should take place within the next two years and it will affect thousands of colleges and universities across the country.
I personally don’t see what evolution has to do with the medical field. How will learning about evolution in medical college help a future doctor save someone’s life?

Survival of the Cutest

A study compared the skull shapes of domestic dogs in the order Carnivora. The results were that the skull shapes were different from one another. There are a wide range of skull shapes in the order. They say that the diversity in the sizes of the dog’s skull size is proof of natural selection.
Dr. Klingenberg said that domestic dogs don’t have to run and hunt down their food and the toughest things they have to chew on are their owner’s slippers. Therefore their evolution away from being undomesticated would lead them to their extinction. He also said that natural selection gets replaced with artificial selection for certain breeds of dogs.
Here is my problem. The dogs still have their natural instinct to hunt their food. But they have adapted to not having to hunt their food every time they are hungry. Just because a breed of dog no longer hunts to get food, does not mean that the breed will go extinct, their owner will feed them. God made every breed of dog’s skull shaped different. Why can’t people just accept that? It has nothing to do with natural selection; they were just made like that.

America, A Christian Nation?
America started out as a Christian nation. Are we still a Christian nation? According to Obama we are a nation of all faiths or no faith.
The Constitution does not mention anything about America being a Christian nation. It starts out as “We the people…” The Constitution was not the first thing that the pilgrims did when they got to America. The reason that the pilgrims came to America was for religious freedom.
We may have started out as a Christian nation but in my opinion we aren’t anymore. If you look at what Christianity stands for America goes against it, for the most part. The Christians in America need to start standing up and start giving Christianity a good name again.

Not Allowed!
Desiree Rogers, the White House Social Secretary, was at a luncheon with previous social secretaries and claimed that this year the White House was going to have a “non-religious” Christmas celebration. Ms. Rogers said that the Obamas did not intend to put up the manger sconce this year. They quickly changed their mind and decided to put up the manger sconce. But the fact that they even considered it revealed a “level of political tone deafness.”
To most people in America, who did not grow up in the Ivy League schools, the idea of keeping Jesus out of the “people’s house” at Christmas evokes disturbing images of the family being turned away from the Inn. Previous American Presidents, including Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, even displayed the manger scene in the White House.
“Is this administration so afraid to offend people of other beliefs that they will seriously consider obliterating basic American traditions? As a friend of mine put it: their logic is like saying that serving American food at the White House state dinner might offend the Indians in the room.”
